On December 19, 2011 the new Public Private Partnerships Law was published in the Official Gazette of the State of Hidalgo, opening the possibility of private companies participating in the development of state infrastructure projects in different forms.
The concept of Public Private Partnerships (PPP) has been disseminated in some developing countries such as Mexico, above all to promote the movement of capital for the development of productive public investment projects.
In this regard, the New PPP Law of Hidalgo attempts to satisfy collective needs with the joint participation of the public sector and the private sector, through the development of infrastructure or the providing of services in benefit of the community, promoting economic growth, generation of employment, construction of works and the improvement of services.
With this new Law, Hidalgo joins the few States of Mexican Republic that have integrated into their regulatory framework these types of public private partnership laws, the others of which are Sonora, Nuevo León, Nayarit and Tamaulipas.
